Karen Vang, Education Program Associate
Karen is the Program Assistant for the Rainin Foundation’s Education Program. She supports the Director of Education Strategy and Ventures, the Education Program Officer and the SEEDS literacy coaches with grantmaking activities, and developing and implementing literacy initiatives.
Karen’s professional experience is centered on children and youth. Before coming to the Foundation, she was a literacy tutor, where she supported the SEEDS of Learning professional development program for Transitional Kindergarten teachers. Prior to that, Karen held the position of Education Coordinator for the Hmong Student Association at University of California, Berkeley, developing educational workshops and curricula for high school students, and directing activities to support academic retention.
Karen has a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Anthropology from University of California Berkeley, and was awarded the prestigious Frankenburg Prize for most outstanding senior honors thesis.
