Mandy is the Communications Director for the Kenneth Rainin Foundation. She leads the Foundation’s communications functions, including public relations and media strategies, digital media platforms and a range of communication products. She has extensive experience in philanthropy, communications and fundraising.
Prior to joining the Foundation, she was the Senior Director of Communications and Marketing at a managed care health plan serving low-income families. In that capacity, she created brand awareness and marketing campaigns, raised funds for special programs, and managed a range of cross-cultural member communications. Mandy worked at the Boston Foundation’s Persistent Poverty Project and has held program positions at the Greater Worcester Community Foundation, the James Irvine Foundation and the Charles Schwab Corporation Foundation.
She has a BA in American Studies from the University of Texas at San Antonio and an MA in Organization and Leadership from the University of San Francisco. She completed the Executive Program in Public Program Management at Harvard University and is a former fellow with the National Hispana Leadership Institute.
Mandy serves on the advisory board for Youth Beat (formerly Media Enterprise Alliance), which trains Oakland high school students in media arts and leadership. She also volunteers for Meals on Wheels and an elementary school.
