Stage Left, a film directed by Austin Forbord, was nominated for a Northern California Area EMMY® Award in the category of Arts/Entertainment-Program/Special. The film, produced by RAPT Productions and commissioned by the Kenneth Rainin Foundation, was created to raise local and national awareness of the unique and extraordinary San Francisco arts community. It takes audiences through 60 years of San Francisco’s vibrant theater scene, exploring how the community both reflects and shapes the Bay Area’s unique political and social culture.
The EMMY® award is presented for outstanding achievement in television by The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS). San Francisco/Northern California is one of the twenty chapters awarding regional Emmy® statuettes. Northern California is composed of media companies and individuals from Visalia to the Oregon border and includes Hawaii and Reno, Nevada. Entries were aired during the 2012 calendar year.
