Mandy has worked in communications for the Kenneth Rainin Foundation since 2013. She leads a team that develops and implements the Foundation’s communication strategies, including public and media relations, digital marketing and storytelling, and social media management. She has spent her career in the nonprofit sector and has extensive experience in philanthropy, communications and fundraising.

Prior to joining the Foundation, she was Senior Director of Communications and Marketing at a managed care health plan. In this role, she created brand awareness and marketing campaigns, raised funds for programs, and managed cross-cultural member communications. Mandy has worked at the Boston Foundation’s Persistent Poverty Project and held program positions at the Greater Worcester Community Foundation, James Irvine Foundation, Charles Schwab Corporation Foundation and the Johnson Scholarship Fund.

She has a BA in American Studies from the University of Texas at San Antonio and an MA in Organization and Leadership from the University of San Francisco. She was a fellow with the National Hispana Leadership Institute and completed the Executive Program in Public Program Management at Harvard University.

Mandy volunteers with Meals on Wheels and is on the advisory board for Youth Beat, a program that trains Oakland high school students in the media arts and storytelling. She previously served on the City of Alameda’s Social Service Human Relations Board and has volunteered her time as a grant writer and project manager for nonprofits.
