Response Fund - Kenneth Rainin Foundation

Response Fund

The Response Fund supports exceptional, time-sensitive opportunities that advance the mission, vision, values and goals of the Foundation.

The Response Fund is by invitation only.

The Response Fund was established in 2021 to respond to urgent needs in our Arts, Education and Health programs. Grants are sponsored by Rainin Foundation staff. Funding supports exceptional and emerging opportunities that will have an outsized impact and move us closer toward our vision of all Oakland children reading at or above grade level, no one suffering from Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Bay Area artists thriving. Grants outside of the Foundation’s three giving areas are considered on a limited basis.

Funding priorities include but are not limited to:

  • One-time capital grants to existing grantees that close a capital campaign or catalyze additional support
  • Close-out grants for sunsetting programs or conversions from single to multiyear grants that support grantee sustainability
  • Rapid response grants to support disaster or crisis relief or recovery for program area granteesOne-time catalytic grants that leverage significant private or public supportUrgent needs or opportunities
  • Grants that promote a culture of care for grantees
