This cross-org collaboration will expand the expertise of our city’s literacy leaders and, hopefully, increase each organization’s capacity by sharing knowledge and resources citywide.

Knowing the importance of social interactions for caregivers and their children, East Bay Agency for Children will be moving back to an in-person model, focusing on activities to develop phonetic awareness and critical social-emotional skills.

To support literacy acceleration at Korematsu Discovery Academy, one of the Oakland schools slated to close in June 2023. Korematsu Discovery Academy is partnering with FULCRUM and Ignite! Reading to provide a year of intensive daily intervention for students reading below grade level in kindergarten through second grade to get them reading at grade level by the time they transition to their new schools.

Leadership for Liberation is in the process of codifying their three-year program for principals to earn the clear administrative services credential. Leadership for Liberation aims to expand their current cohort of leaders and increase impact.

In 2022-2023, Tandem aims to grow services in Oakland and provide high-quality early learning experiences for children ages birth to five. This includes adding new StoryCycles classrooms, deepening community-based early learning programs and offering families greater access to high quality books and materials.
