The Kenneth Rainin Foundation supports artists in ways that will sustain their creative practice in the Bay Area and serve local communities.
Our work is rooted in the belief that we can achieve greater impact when we partner with others, share knowledge and leverage resources. By seeding innovative ideas, investigating practices and models and collaborating across sectors, we hope to remove barriers to unleash creativity. Explore our Arts initiatives below.
Community Arts Stabilization Trust
Community Arts Stabilization Trust (CAST) is a community-centered real estate organization that works to secure and steward affordable spaces, ensuring artists and cultural workers can stay anchored where they create.
CAST’s innovative financial model for securing permanent, affordable space for the arts has been codified as the Rainin Arts Real Estate Strategy. This collaborative strategy connects resources in the community to the real estate needs of arts and cultural organizations.
The Let’s Talk: What Artists Need To Thrive series invites artists, especially those who have historically been unacknowledged by or excluded from philanthropy, to engage in meaningful dialogue with arts funders.
The Exploring Public Art Practices Symposium is an event that brings together artists from a range of practices to discuss the opportunities and challenges of working in public space in the Bay Area.
The New Models Cohort was a workgroup of the Kenneth Rainin Foundation and our grantees focused on identifying and creating optimal conditions for art to be made and ways to sustain artists’ creative practices.
The Kenneth Rainin Foundation enhances quality of life by championing the arts, promoting early childhood literacy, and supporting research to cure chronic disease.
