
Laverne Matías is Chief of Organizational Effectiveness at the Kenneth Rainin Foundation. He partners with senior leadership to shape a values-driven culture rooted in learning, equity, collaboration and impact to help staff thrive in their roles. Laverne oversees the Human Resources and Administration functions and leads the design and implementation of the Foundation’s strategic plan.
Laverne previously served as Director of Employee Experience and Culture for the Foundation, where he developed an Integrated Talent Development strategy, introduced frameworks for collaborative decision-making and redesigned the Total Compensation Program to better recognize and reward staff contributions. His work builds on his more than two decades of experience in Human Resources and Organizational Development in philanthropy, food manufacturing, nonprofit healthcare and specialty retail.
Laverne holds a BA in Accounting from the University of Puerto Rico and an MS in Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University. The combination of psychological training and business acumen informs his distinctive approach to organizational work, one that is equally attentive to human dynamics and the structural systems that shape how people and institutions perform, learn and grow. Laverne is a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, a Co-Active Coach and is bilingual in English and Spanish.
