We are thrilled to welcome scientists and other colleagues back in person to the Kenneth Rainin Foundation’s annual Innovations Symposium. Our 2023 event will be held July 17-18 at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco, CA. After three years of meeting virtually, we are eager to gather again with researchers, trainees and clinicians to accelerate Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) research.
This event offers an exceptional setting for sharing novel ideas and connecting with innovators in diverse research disciplines. Here are three reasons to join us in July.
“This annual symposium is a true scientific treat. The meeting is exceptionally well organized at every level and the science and speakers are world class.”
Kate Fitzgerald, PhD, University of Massachusetts Medical School
1. Gain Insights From Leading Researchers And Clinicians
An array of groundbreaking researchers and clinicians will share their progress on advancing innovative IBD research. This year’s speakers include familiar and new faces working within and outside of the IBD field. Speakers will provide a range of perspectives on cutting-edge questions around disease, immunity and health. You’ll hear from:
- Yasmine Belkaid, PhD, Chief, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases
- Julie Blander, PhD, Professor, Weill Cornell Medicine
- Meghan Koch, PhD, Assistant Professor, Fred Hutch Cancer Center
- Richard Locksley, MD, Professor, University of California, San Francisco
- Sarkis Mazmanian, PhD, Professor, California Institute of Technology
- Daniel Mucida, PhD, Professor, Rockefeller University
- Julie Pfeiffer, PhD, Professor, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center
- Tiffany Scharschmidt, MD, Associate Professor, University of California, San Francisco
- David Suskind, MD, Professor, University of Washington School of Medicine
2. Connect With Established And Emerging Innovators
Our annual Innovations Symposium brings together scientific minds from around the world to exchange innovative ideas and advance IBD knowledge. Trainees, researchers and clinicians from academia, government, and the health sector have all discovered the unique experience of this conference. You’ll have access to a wide cross section of people in this dynamic community, including members of our Scientific Advisory Board. We keep this event small so you can connect with others, exchange ideas and plan future collaborations.
“A fantastic event, filled with excellent talks and vibrant discussions at the cutting edge of IBD research.“
Jamie Spangler, PhD, Johns Hopkins
3. Share Your Research And Learn From Others
As we emerge from the height of the pandemic, we recognize its lingering impact on trainees’ and postdocs’ research progress and career development. These individuals are essential to the future of science. To encourage their valued attendance at our Symposium, the Rainin Foundation offers travel awards to students and postdocs who present their research at the event.
We welcome abstract submissions from academic, industry and government researchers at any career level (trainees to later career). Keeping to our tradition, we will maximize time for networking opportunities to generate new ideas and collaborations.
We aim to provide the safest possible in-person experience for Symposium attendees and our team. We will post health and safety measures within three months of the event. Space is limited, so be sure to reserve your spot early. Explore the 2023 Innovations Symposium event website.
