Grantee Communications
The Kenneth Rainin Foundation invites organizations to announce grants from us in written materials or online publications and on social media. We have created guidelines and distinct logos for our grantees to use in communications about their awards. If you are unsure about the type of grant you received, please refer to your grant agreement letter or contact our Grants Management Team for assistance.
Frequently Asked Questions
Preparing To Apply
Can I access the application questions before I decide to start an application?
Yes, application questions are uploaded to the grant program pages on our website prior to each open application cycle. Please visit the following pages:
Do the application questions have character or word counts?
Please review the application instructions. While the portal doesn’t enforce word limits, some application fields include recommended word counts, and others are reviewed only up to a certain length. Going slightly over is okay, but we encourage you to stay close to the limit so your responses remain clear, focused and impactful.
I have a fiscal sponsor. How do I apply?
Please follow the application instructions. You’ll be asked to provide your fiscal sponsor’s legal name, federal tax ID and fiscal sponsorship agreement, so have those ready when you apply.
Logging Into GivingData
How do I login to the grant portal to complete an open grant application?
If you are applying to an open grant application, please use the link in the Funding Opportunities page that is available during the open application period:
- Early Care Spaces
- Innovator Awards (Letter of Inquiry)
- New & Experimental Works Program
- Open Spaces Program (Stage One)
From there, sign in if you are a return user or create an account if you are a new user to access the application.
How do I login to the grant portal to complete an invite-only application or full proposal?
If you were invited to submit an application or full proposal (e.g., Arts Open Spaces Program Stage Two), an account has already been created for you. Use the link in your invitation email to access the portal. On your first visit, you’ll be prompted to create a password.
How do I login to the grant portal to complete a Discretionary Award application?
The link in the invitation email from your recommender will take you to a landing page. From there, sign in if you are a return user or create an account if you are a new user to access the application.
Can I create accounts for team members or collaborators to access my application, award document submissions or reports?
Yes. You may submit a support ticket to the Kenneth Rainin Foundation’s Grants Management & Learning Team to request accounts for team members or collaborators to access invited applications, reports and award document submission forms.
Please note that this is not available for open call (e.g., New & Experimental Works Program, Open Spaces Program, Innovator Awards Letters of Inquiry, Early Care Spaces) or Discretionary Award applications.
I tried to create an account with my email, but it says I already have an account.
You likely have an unclaimed portal account. Please submit a support ticket to the Kenneth Rainin Foundation’s Grants Management & Learning Team, and we will resend instructions for claiming your account.
How do I reset my password?
When you arrive at the GivingData login page you will see a “Forgot your password?” link at the bottom of the Sign In box. Click the link and follow the instructions to reset your password.
I have applied before, are my old login credentials and password still valid?
Yes. If you are the same individual or organization, you can log in using the same email address (user ID) and password.
