The Kenneth Rainin Foundation has announced the promotion of Alexandria “Alex” Featherston-Gomez to Grants Management & Learning Officer effective May 15.
The newly expanded Grants Management & Learning Team will lead the grantmaking practice and oversee the strategic and cultural development of the Foundation’s Learning and Evaluation framework. In her new role, Alex will continue to manage grantmaking processes and lead projects to ensure our practices are equitable and accessible. She will also develop our learning culture through annual plans and learning days, reinforce inquiry and reflection and translate data into actionable insights and compelling stories.
Alex joined the Foundation in 2017 as a Program Assistant and has continued to take on additional roles and responsibilities since joining the Grants Management Team in 2020. She has played an integral role in operationalizing equity in our grantmaking practices. Most recently, Alex led the development of our Stakeholder Compensation Policy and Process and the launch of our first identity-based employee affinity group, Us Folks!, for staff who identify with and experience the world within the Black Diaspora. Alex brings a passion for equity, research, data analysis and learning to the Foundation. She has also been developing her leadership skills as a member of the 2024 Emerging Leaders Initiative through the Technology Association of Grantmakers (TAG).
I am absolutely thrilled to step into the role in support of the Foundation’s learning and evaluation journey. At the Rainin Foundation, we embrace emergent, authentic learning as the heart of our culture and work. I am eager to work with our internal and external communities to seamlessly integrate this approach into our collaborative growth and learning, sparking impactful and innovative lessons along the way.
