Serena Solórzano, Program Assistant, will leave the Rainin Foundation in July to pursue graduate studies in social work. For the past two years, Serena has demonstrated a deep passion for our mission, approaching her responsibilities with a great deal of thought and care. Her skills in relationship building, communication and logistics allowed her to juggle numerous priorities effectively, ensuring that our Program Areas ran smoothly and successfully.

Serena’s contributions went beyond her role as Program Assistant. Her work showcased her ability to blend strategic thinking with a commitment to social justice. She was a major contributor to our internal Implicit Bias Work Group and an advocate for our land acknowledgement practice. Her commitment to equity and inclusion was also evident in her support of the Huey P. Newton Black Panther Museum.

“Serena will undoubtedly continue to make a significant impact within the social sector. We are excited for her future and confident that her skills and dedication will lead to even greater accomplishments,” said Laura Wilson, Director of Health Strategy and Ventures, who worked closely with Serena.

“From my very first week, I’ve experienced warmth, kindness and authenticity from my Foundation colleagues. I’ll miss this community of brilliant and passionate people,” said Serena. “Thank you for being supportive and for making my journey with the Foundation and our grantees and partners so meaningful.”

We are grateful for Serena’s valuable contributions to the Rainin Foundation and are thrilled about her new journey. Please join us in congratulating her as she returns to school to pursue her dreams.
