To support gathering data and conducting research that will inform how resources can best be used to expand equitable access to high-quality early care and education programs that serve families furthest from opportunity in Oakland.

To support the academic growth and proficiency of English Language Learners with a multi-pronged approach: 1) a summer program to develop kindergarten-readiness skills for incoming kindergarten students; and 2) a professional development program for teachers, SEEDS of Learning, which will help teachers develop their capacity to integrate English Language Development strategies into daily instruction.

To support existing Learning Station in Oakland Unified School District classrooms and transition e-readers classrooms to use Kidappolis, a learning application software. Litlab will launch Kidappolis in Oakland  to increase access to high quality, personalized, and engaging early learning content.

To support a Program Manager position to develop and implement a series of continuous learning programs for the Oakland Literacy Coalition’s membership Literacy Service Providers. Funds will also support securing an outreach coordinator for the Oakland Reads Mini-Grants programs and establishing additional partnerships with community and faith based organizations.

To support a continued partnership focusing on transitional kindergarten to second grade literacy with 18 district schools. Funding over two years to support the multi-year Men of Color Early Education Teaching Fellows Pilot Project. Year one will focus on building infrastructure to recruit and support a sustainable pipeline of men of color in classrooms. Thirty participants will be onboarded over the course of two years.

To support the enrollment and service to 800 unduplicated students at 17 sites (14 reading centers) across Oakland with twice weekly 45-minute literacy tutoring sessions.

To support the development of a plan for an early childhood leadership post-BA program at San Francisco State University. Planning will lay the groundwork to establish a program that will leverage EDvance’s current model of preparing first generation college students from underrepresented populations to be future early childhood leaders in Oakland.
