Established in 2005, the North Of Market Tenderloin Community Benefit Corporation (TLCBD) focuses on improving the Tenderloin neighborhood through clean and safe programs, expanding its services and impact over the years. With a renewed emphasis on community-led initiatives and advocacy, TLCBD aims to transform the Tenderloin into a vibrant community for all, particularly addressing disparities highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBDs) are typified by bouts of inflammation-induced epithelial damage and repair. By take cues from their microenvironment or “niche”, intestinal stem cells (ISCs) direct these fluctuating pathological and reparative states in IBD. Yet, we do not understand which cells comprise the inflamed ISC niche and how they switch on programs of repair. To track evolving ISC niches, we are proposing the development of a new cutting-edge Niche-labeling system. Our ultimate goal is to understand how ISC niches change over the course of disease and leverage this information to reprogram an “inflammatory ISC niche” into a “regenerative ISC niche” and achieve lasting remission in IBD.

A process-based dance-form by artist Dia Dear. ∑nake (unlearning) dance centers lived experience with chronic illness and disability and mindfulness practices for trauma healing while exploring the adaptability and intelligence of the physical body. It seeks to develop models of crafting accessibility into the artistic process for chronically ill artists with changing abilities.

They will also expand parent engagement by changing organizational practices within direct service agencies, increasing culturally competent, whole-family centered learning environments, and making it easier to access childcare services.

The renewal funding will enable Partnership for Children & Youth (PCY) to sustain its Reading with Relevance (RWR) program, delivering a culturally diverse curriculum to families in public housing, fostering reading comprehension, vocabulary, and social-emotional learning. Under PCY’s HousED Initiative, our support facilitated the training of 500 public housing staff in out-of-school literacy development and social-emotional learning through RWR.
