A new outdoor vertical dance production investigating Indigenous forest practices, featuring the songs, voices and stories of Ohlone elders, as well as Augmented Reality digital art created by American Indigenous youth. Talking Roots: Trees of Witness will engage an extensive network of Indigenous artists, scientists, elders, schools, urban youth and audiences from throughout the South and East Bay.

Precise manipulation of diet and gut microbiota is a novel and non-invasive therapy for IBD which is of great interest to patients. Enteral nutrition provides a clear example of a dietary intervention improving clinical outcomes such as mucosal healing. However, previous studies in IBD have altered several different dietary components at once making it challenging to identify specific dietary factors with quantifiable, causal roles in IBD. Identifying these dietary ingredients that influence disease will allow us to compose a broader range of precise and clinically effective diets for IBD with better patient tolerance and adherence than enteral nutrition. In animal models, we screened over 30 defined diets to identify that protein and fiber in combination influence gut leakiness and inflammation. We will profile the effect of these diets on the mucosal immune system and leaky gut in healthy individuals and patients with moderate ulcerative colitis

Their directory focuses on community bail funds consistently engaged in paying bail/bond within the criminal legal or immigration detention systems, excluding legal defense funds and sporadic bail support from other organizations, while serving as an organizational tool to combat pretrial and immigration detention, subject to changes based on local dynamics and capacity.

The goal is to reduce the number of second and third graders who are reading below grade level by providing targeted and data driven support in earlier years. Support includes leader and teacher professional development, SEEDS of Learning for new teachers only, and Systematic Instruction in Phoneme Awareness and Sight Words (SIPPS) intervention materials, for first through second grade.

From 2014-2020, The Flight Deck was a home for multidisciplinary artists to present work, share resources and practice radical acts of imagination in the heart of downtown Oakland. Through PianoFight’s “Reimagining Business Models in the Arts” research project, they are developing an Oakland Cultural Space Cooperative. This business will network, preserve and activate cultural spaces, with the goal of sustaining culture makers of color who are facing displacement.
